Pancake Series: #5 Whole wheat with maple and brown sugar pancakes


Being true to my wanna-be-healthy-form, I decided to add a healthy variety to my pancake series. Whole wheat with maple and brown sugar pancakes- sounds good right? This simple recipe yields tasty, light and tender pancakes which I would like to believe describes my other pancake recipes. We all know the fiber health benefits we can get from whole wheat so without further ado, here’s how to make them.
Whole Wheat With Brown Sugar And Maple Pancakes
Ingredients:
1 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp baking soda
1 1/3 cup 2% fat milk
¼ tsp sea salt
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp maple extract or flavoring
1 tbsp or vegetable oil
1 extra large egg
Juice of half a lemon
Directions
Sift together whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, sea salt and brown sugar
In a separate bowl, add 2% fat milk and oil then add juice of half a lemon and stir
Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients then add the egg and whisk together till well blended
Pour ½ cup batter into a hot griddle. Flip when bubbles appear.It should be done in a minute
Serve with unsalted butter and maple syrup. Recipe makes six light and fluffy pancakes
